It’s Good Food & Wine Show time again! This year, you will be able to add Mitchell’s to your list of stands to visit!

Yup, we’ll be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Gordon Ramsay, Sofia and Isabella from Junior Master Chef as well as some fantastic local chefs, wineries, craft brewers and artisinal munchie-makers.

If you haven’t bought your ticket yet, they are still available at Computicket or the GF&WS website as well as at the door.

We have to congratulate the organiser’s of this year’s Riebeeck Valley Olive Festival. This year saw a record number of festival goers walking the streets of Riebeeck West and Riebeeck Kasteel in search of olives, wines, cheeses and of course, craft Beer!

Visitors to The Emporium in the Town Square were treated by The Beer Garden SA to a wonderful range of imported beers, ciders, local craft beer and of course, Mitchell’s Brew. We are happy to report that our faithful fans drank the taps of Forester’s Lager and Milk n Honey dry and by Sunday evening, there was hardly a drop of Mitchell’s left to be tapped.

So thank you to you, the craft beer drinker, to Newton & Co. who kept the party going in spite of a sore head on Sunday and to the Riebeeck Valley for hosting yet another successful event.

See you all there next year!

So you’ve heard that Eskom is asking us all to please conserve energy this winter as they are anticipating black-outs in the Cape again this year. You’ve heard that we need to save water as it is a non renewable resource.

At Mitchell’s we are just as concerned about our resources as the next guy, so here are a few ways that you can help save the planet while sipping on a cold, craft beer.

1. Keg it! By renting a Mitchell’s Party Keg, you are not only saving the environment and assisting waste management services by not disposing of bottles and bottle caps, but you are also saving on electricity! All you need to chill your fresh, draught beer on tap is a few bags of ice. No refrigeration necessary for 30 litres of Mitchell’s fine craft beer.

2. Recycle it! The City of Cape Town has recycling bins posted all over the show where you can drop our new glass bottles so that they may one day lead a life as a fancy chandelier or adorn the shelves of your grannies as knick knacks and what nots. We have made this process easier by going into glass as there aren’t as many plastic drop off zones.

3. Stay Healthy! Beer is full of B vitamins which give your body energy and keep you from being run down as well as helping your immune system out, so, for the sake of the tee totallers that require our medical resources, make sure that you are doing your bit and getting your daily vitamin B! (Drink Responsibly, we are not real doctors, so don’t blame it on us if you overdose on Vitamin Beer!)

4. Save Water! We understand the importance rehydration. Now we know that nothing beats water when it comes to replenishing the liquid that your body needs to function, but let’s be honest, nothing beats beer for that satisfying rehydrating, chilled out feeling you get after cracking one after a long day. The great thing about having a few of our brews in the fridge for these occasions is that you don’t need to go to the extra energy using, water transforming process of making ice. Well, you shouldn’t. So for every beer you have, you’re saving a glass of water and a few ice blocks to boot!

If you have any other ways that you can think of to chill this winter while saving the planet, let’s hear them! @MitchellsBrew

Here’s to Earth, the only planet with beer! Cheers!

The Route for the Old Mutual 2 Oceans Marathon

The Route for the Old Mutual 2 Oceans Marathon

This weekend while some of us are kicking back, enjoying the long weekend that is Easter, some really fit people will be lacing up their running shoes and hoofing it from Newlands to Fishhoek and back in the Old Mutual 2 Oceans Marathon.

To salute these fanatics in their endeavor, to conquer 56km of road in a marathon about where the two oceans meet, we’re reminding you about the beer where Forester’s and Bosun’s meet. The Mitchell’s Millwood!

Half Forester’s, half Bosun’s, The Millwood combines the soft, sweetness of our lager with the hoppy bitterness of our bitter making it a great session beer for the long grueling hours spent in support of our athletes from around the world.

Remember to check our “Outlets” page to find a spot that serve’s Mitchell’s, South Africa’s oldest Craft beer.

Here’s to Easter, here’s to marathons, here’s to great craft beer!

Cheers!

The Wild Goose in Observatory is a great spot to go to for a gorgeous dining experience and their wonderful taste can only be accentuated by the inclusion of Mitchell’s Craft Beer on tap.

The Goose serves our own 90 Shillings Ale and two house brews that we provide them with, Wild Wendy Lager and Wild Wendy Ale.

If you haven’t been there yet, this weekend’s Easter special might be just the reason you are looking for. Their wild chefs have cooked up a mouth watering menu that includes Cranberry Gammon and Orange Duck, with a complimentary Easter desert (Ice cream , chocolate sauce, drizzled with mini Easter eggs).

Contact them on 021-447-6342 to book your spot.

So, Rub – a dub – dub. Get in the tub.

A wonderful time of year!

It’s Rugby season. Super 15 means that a lot of the South African male population and some of the country’s fine women are crowding around their tv’s every week to watch our boys in their regional teams take on their other Southern Hemisphere counterparts often coupled with a “dop and a chop”.

So every week, people are rushing out to the liquor store to stock up on their preferred brews for their team’s performance or arriving at their favourite bar nice and early to secure their spot in front of the screen ahead of the bun fight for seats.

At Mitchell’s we have a way for you to indulge in a freshly poured pint of Mitchell’s finest craft beer straight from our party keg. At home! This means no queueing at the till 5 minutes before kick off. There’s no disappointment when you find yourself in a spot where they just prefer watching soccer.

With our Party Keg, you become the coolest person in your group of friends because you’re pulling pints of Mitchell’s at home and, there’s no heavy trash bag full of empty bottles that you need to dead lift into the black wheelie bin which means your carbon footprint is becoming as natural as our beer.

Contact Us to book your party keg. (021) 425 9462
