Join us for a Taste!

The Pick Pay Taste of Cape Town festival is happening this weekend from 11 – 14 April at the Green Point Cricket Club. 12 of Cape Town’s best restaurants will be offering an array of gourmet tasting dishes, small, local craft food stalls will be opening their hearts and sharing their passions with you and of course, Mitchell’s Brewery will be serving up SA’s oldest Craft Beer.

You will be able to join us for a pint of your favourite Mitchell’s Brew for 5 Crowns (The Festival’s only currency) which will be on sale with credit card facilities should you decide to take home a case of our brand new bottles.

With so many varieties of artisan munchies, delectable dishes and scrummy snacks to pair our beers with, you might want to come back for a second session. We’ll be pulling pints of Forester’s, Bosun’s, Milk n Honey, 90 Shillings and Raven Stout, so there’s be a cold pint of Knysna’s finest for everyone.

For more details on the festival, check out their website here.

One of the newest clients that we are very excited to be supplying is the new moyo Souk which opened near the Clock Tower at the V&A Waterfront where the old Paulaner Brauhaus used to be situated.

It’s definitely going to become a landmark not only for tourists to our city, but also to locals who enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and vibrant African experience that moyo is so well known for. Read More

Loving good beer!

Loving good beer!

We had such a great beer and music weekend! First on Saturday we poured lots of Forester’s Lager and Bosun’s Bitter at the Durbanville Beer Fest at Hillcrest Estate, and then rocked at the Parlotones concert at D’Aria on Sunday where our Forester’s Lager was one of the most popular brews sold!

The Durbanville Beer Fest is always a fun event to be at, and though this year had a smaller crowd than last year, everyone was there to have a good time and our brews certainly helped! Read More

With Mitchell's its easy to 'homebrew'

Home brewing kits can take up loads of space, but to make a Mitchell’s Millwood you don’t need all of this!

Want to feel a little like a master brewer in your own home? With Mitchell’s its easy to create a beer that best suits your taste-buds, and not only that, but you don’t even have to get your hands dirty or spend any time patiently waiting while its brews.

To create a ‘homebrew’ with a simple twist of the wrist just take a bottle of Mitchell’s Brewery faithful favourite Forester’s Lager and a bottle of our best Bosun’s Bitter and get your glass ready.

It takes some time to perfect, but even the most inexperienced will feel like a brewer in no time!

Pour a measure of Forester’s into the glass, then fill the rest from your bottle of Bosun’s. The result is what we call a Millwood. It has the sweetness of our lager with a touch of bitterness, depending on what your preference is. Too sweet, add some more Bosun’s. Too bitter, reach for that Forester’s.

And to think that this can all be done without any fuss, any mess, or any expensive equipment. That’s homebrewing made easy! Now you just have to put your feet up and enjoy!

PS – you can also request this at next weeks Cape Town Festival of Beer if you’re worried about trying this at home first. We will walk and talk you through it, though enjoying the brew will be up to you!
